Cross-country skiing
Ramsau am Dachstein is the centre of Nordic sports in Styria and international cross-country events take place here. The 220 km long network of cross-country slopes in Ramsau am Dachstein and on the Dachstein glacier provides the best conditions for beginners and professionals, for classic cross-country skiers and those who like the skating technique. The tracks are being prepared every day and offer different difficulties in a great landscape surrounded by magnificent mountains.
The cross-country schools offer different courses. There is also a night track which is illuminated until 9 pm and a cross-country park for children.
You can step into the huge network of cross-country slopes just in front of the house!
Ideal ski region for families
Ramsau am Dachstein offers a family friendly ski resort with 16 lifts on the plateau and the glacier and is situated in the heart of the huge ski region amadé. The sunny slopes of the Rittisberg with the fairytale track and the “Kaliland” for children are only five minute from Apartment Österreich and ideal for children. There is also a ski school that offers courses for beginners and advanced skiers.
With the ski bus you can reach the big ski mountains like the Planai in Schladming in only 15 minutes.

Ski touring and free riding around the Dachstein
Snow covered slopes and untouched nature – that is ski touring in Ramsau am Dachstein. The “Dachstein crossing! Is Austria’s national ski tour number one and is known as one of the most beautiful of the Alps! From Ramsau in Styria you go over the glacier to Obertraun in Upper Austria from where you can go back to Ramsau via shuttle bus.
But the “Dachstein crossing” is not the only tour around Ramsau. There are many more slopes awaiting you!
The freeride tour “Edelgrieß” holds 1600 m of pure deep powder pleasure and is one of the most beautiful freeride slopes in Austria. You need to be a good skier though!
Winter hiking and winter pleasure
Ramsau am Dachstein offers a lot besides skiing and cross-country skiing! There are 80 km of winter walking and winter hiking trails. What about a snow shoe tour through the untouched nature or what about tobogganing by night? Also, a horse drawn sleigh ride through Ramsau is an experience no visitor should miss. Furthermore you can have fun at Bavarian curling or on the ice skating track.
